Volunteering

VOLUNTEERING

Like all Charities, we rely on the hard work of our volunteers and do our best to help them gain from the experience. Our volunteers are always first to be considered when an employment opportunity occurs within Croydon ARC. Many of our volunteers find that being able to go to work, to be part of a team and to contribute to the success of Croydon ARC gives them both a feeling of being needed and of being involved and raises their self esteem. Showing this initiative also gives them the advantage when applying for jobs elsewhere.

We have volunteers working in most parts of our organization and are always interested in meeting people who are willing to muck in, be part of the team, and help us to fulfil our goal of reducing waste and helping those on low income improve their living standards.

Examples of areas where we have and need volunteers are:

  • Customer service in our shops

  • Administration and customer enquiry handling

  • Driving and assisting van drivers on our daily collection and delivery rounds

  • Working in our workshops cleaning, testing and repairing appliances and furniture

  • Working in our warehouse. A fork lift driving skill would be very helpful in this area.

Volunteers can contribute from as little as a morning or afternoon a week to working full time. The only thing we would ask is a regular commitment per week.
