Donations
DONATIONS

We welcome donations of re-usable furniture and domestic appliances, including washing machines, dish washers, refrigerators, electric cookers and other household items.
All donated items are checked and repaired where possible, cleaned and then sold at low cost to those on low incomes.
By donating items to the ARC you are making a valuable contribution to people on low incomes or in need in some way, as well as doing your bit to reduce waste, landfill, carbon emissions and global warming.
As our aim is to convert all donated items into usable items for our customers, we are only looking for goods that will truly benefit people in need with a minimum of repair being required.
For items such as washing machines, refrigerators, tumble driers, microwaves, electric hobs and ovens we have fully equipped repair workshops.
Collections of donated furniture items which are suitable for reuse are carried out free of charge, however, there is a small charge for taking away electrical appliances. Where we are not able to reuse an item, because it is too old or in too poor a condition or does not comply with relevant laws, (see below information about soft furnishings), we make a small charge. This typically affects Fridge Freezers and TVs.
Our clients need:
- Domestic appliances including washing machines, dish washers, fridge freezers, refrigerators, etc.
- Electric cookers – less than 5 years old, and complete with all shelves
- Beds
- Wardrobes
- Chests of drawers
- Dining tables and chairs
- Clean mattresses
- Sofas
- Armchairs
- Sofa beds
- Chipboard flat-packed furniture, provided it is complete with all fittings
- TVs, radios and audio systems
Please note that to comply with the regulations on soft furnishings, we can only accept donations which have a "Fire Label" confirming they are resistant to catching fire from cigarettes etc.
The image below is an example of what some of the Fire Resistant labels might look like.
We collect donated goods between 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
All collections are made in our own vehicles with our own drivers and assistants and all drivers carry identification.

We are a registered transporter of waste, and you can be assured that donated goods are handled carefully and, if necessary, recycled responsibly.
