Croydon ARCs vans have been found
Our van has been located and appear to be not too badly damaged so once the police have finished their work with them we can hopefully get them back and put them back to work.
We have learnt from the police today that the second of the vans which were stolen has now been found.
The first van was used in a theft of an ATM in Sutton with the van being used to screen the ATM and thieves from the surveillance camera across the street.
The second van has now been found. It was used in a burglary in Chertsey West London (KT16). The van must have felt very lost as this is way out side of our normal collection and delivery areas.
Thank fully the first van has not been damaged much so once the police have completed their work on it and returned it to us we can give a clean and get it back to work. The other van has apparently been used in some sort of "ram raid" so we are still waiting to find out how badly it has been damaged. We do know that it has not been set fire to as often seems to happen with stolen vehicles.
As we have had the vans for about 6 years and use them every day it feels very strange for them to be absent from the yard and to have them replaced by hire vehicles. Whilst they may not be human some of our drivers and teams are quite attached to them.
We have also been working hard to try to improve on the ease of communication for our customers as the thieves cut the telephone lines leaving us with out land lines or e-mail. Tonight we have been able to get our e-mails re routed so that we can access them through webmail which will make a big difference to how easily we can communicate with all of our customers. We are still working with our land lines diverted to our mobile phones but this does seem to be working most of the time.
We have had many kind comments from the customers who have visited the shop and who have e-mailed us. We are very appreciative of these comments it has really made a difference to how we have been feeling over the last couple of days.
We are going to have a Sale Next Week starting on Monday to help those who have not been able to contact us or who have found the shop shut. So please tell your friends.
